Neelakurunji (Strobilanthus):


A rare plant that blooms once in 12 years. It will bloom next in 2006 AD making the hill side fascinatingly bluish in colour.

Nilgiri Tahr:

Half the world population of the rare species of mountain goat (Hermitragus hylocrius) Nilgiri Tahr, is now found in the highlands and rocky regions. They have become a species which is fast becoming extinct. Small herds of Nilgiri Tahr are found in the Eravikulam Rajamala region.
